Eagles Remain Unbeaten, Defeat Valwood 18-13

The NFC Eagles defeated the Valwood Valiants 18-13 Friday night on a late fourth quarter run by running back Quan Myrick.  On a night where field conditions were messy due to frequent rain, the Eagles were led by senior Jaylen Stewart who rushed 8 times for 104 yards to lead the NFC Eagles to a hard fought 18-13 victory over the Valwood Valients. When Quan Myrick scored a touchdown on a one run with two minutes left in the game, it was the Eagles first lead of the game. The Valients opened the scoring after a blocked punt but missed their two point conversion attempt. The Eagles answered in the second quarter when linebacker Quan Myrick sacked the Valwood quarterback and caused a fumble that was returned by Jalen Norwood for a 31 yard touchdown. Valwood scored on a 13 yard touchdown pass to take the 13-6 halftime lead. The Eagles scored on a 75 yard touchdown run in the third by Jaylen Stewart. The score remained 13-12 until Deangelo Mitchell returned a punt 50 yards to set up the Eagles in Valwood territory. A fourth down pass from Trey Fisher to Mitchell set up the winning touchdown run by Myrick. Jalen Norwood lead the Eagles on Defense with 11 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 2 recovered fumbles and 2 Sacks. The Eagles are now 2-0 on the season. The Eagles return to action at Brookwood School in Thomasville at 7:30 on September 8.
